Teriya bugu
Thought I would get one last post in before I got back to site and was cut off. These last three days the ag volunteers went to a place called Teriyabugu to do some field training and I have to say, Teriyabugu is like a resort. After the six hour bus ride into Segou, we got to this place that had a bar, a pool, a river, paddle boats, an entire zoo, and a honey making factory. Apparently the place was made by a Catholic French Monk who ended up getting ex communicated (I think it might have had something to do with his fondness of Malian women). We spent the days mainly relaxing and having a good time which was really nice before going back to site. One day we went out to a neighboring village to help with a compost project and man, there were kids everywhere. I mean I am used to kids being obnoxious but this was on a whole different level. Kids were literally climbing our vehicles and asking us for money. Needless to say I chased a bunch of them with sticks and told them that they were rich and should give me money, it was a good time. The most exciting news so far for us is that Guinea (neighbors Mali's Southern border) got evacuated do to instability with the coming death of the President. Therefore, all the Guinea volunteers are being placed in Mali at our training center at Tubani So. It is kind of a shame that I am leaving today though since I will not be able to see them. ANyway, besides that not a whole lot has been going on, I am going to go back to village and try to implement some sort of project, I will keep everyone updated. Miss you all lots, take care.

Hi Dan!
I'm glad you had a fun Christmas at the Malian college campus. It sounds like you're doing pretty well. My mom wants to know if you need more beef jerky. Tu me manques beaucoup!
Love you
Ilana
Hi Dan,
Its been years and we are living on the East Coast now. But I talked to Tony today and asked for your email and got your blog address. I just spent an hour reading some of your blogs and see that you are having a lifetime experience. Also that you are doing some good things with good people. Those pesky kids like you!
A fan,
Jim Prendergast
