host village

Hey guys!
Found out today that I will be spending my next 9 weeks at my host village in Sinsinsa where I will be learning bambara. Some representatives of the village came today for lunch and included the son of the village chief, it was pretty amusing, a bunch of Americans and two Malians sitting around a community bowl eating with their hands struggling in French to ask basic questions about each other. I asked the guy if he wanted a glass of water which i thought was pretty simple enough but it turned into a 10 minute ordeal trying to figure out what was actually happening Pretty excited about finally leaving tubani so (it seems like i have been here for years ) and going out to my host village though i am nervous about meeting my host family. Besides that everything has been really fun. It poured last night like I have never seen and the lightning and thunder went right over us, extremely intense. Besides that I am just really excited to start my training and eventually get out and do some work. We talked alot to day about these evaluations that we have to go along with a butt load of tdas (training directed activities) and it reminded me of Jamie ( I am going to do something called a compliment sandwich) haha. Besides that nothing else has been really happening, everyone has been trying to keep themselves busy by playing sports and writing emails home (the line to get on a computer is like 20 people deep and bringing out your computer means you aren't going to bed until midnight) Anyway, i miss everyone a lot and hope they are all doing well. Until next time,
Daniel
